CLINICAL STUDY ON MANDIBULAR CONDYLAR FRACTURES TREATED BY OPEN RUCTION


Abstract
This is a clinical study on the prognosis after the surgical management of condylar fracture of the mandilbe, by reviewing recents of 91 patients follow - up for at least 6 months after the treatment in department of Oral & Mamllofacilal Surgery , College of Dentistry in Wonkwang University Hospitsal from 1985 to 1990.
The results were as follows ;
1. The frequency of mandibular condyle fractures were developed three times in males and the most developed age groups were twenty year old age ( 40.6 % ) and the most frequently site were condylar neck ( 35.8 % ).
2. The post - operative complcations were developed in 15 cases of the 162 lines of the fracture, which contnbuted at 6 lines in condyle head, 5 lines in condyle head, 3 lines in condylar process and 1 line in condylar base.
3. In condylar neck fracture,- the-frequency of complications were developed at posterior, ante,--or and lateral displacement in each percentage of 12.5%, n1% and 10.5%, but internal and no displacement cases were not oocured the complications.
4. Complications in condylar process fradure were developed mostly in case of anterior displacement in percentage of 111%..
Trismus and cliddnng sound were -most frequent complications in our study.
